Introduction: The NHNPA is proud to continue honoring the legacy of Claire Martin, APRN, through the Claire Martin Memorial Scholarship. Claire was an innovative force in establishing independent nurse practitioner practices in New Hampshire, particularly known for her compassionate approach to healthcare in the Lakes Region. Following her untimely death in 2001 at age 53, the NHNPA established this scholarship fund to support aspiring nurse practitioners in their educational pursuits.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a New Hampshire resident.
  • Must be a member of NHNPA (any category).
  • Limit of two-time receipt of this scholarship.

Application Process: The application must be completed online in one session, with no changes permitted post-submission. To assist applicants, the required elements of the application are listed below.

  • Name of Accredited Program: Currently enrolled in an advanced practice nursing education program.
  • Program Mailing Address
  • Proof of Enrollment: Either a letter of acceptance or the most recent grades from the current program.
  • Resume/CV: Current professional resume or curriculum vitae.
  • Letter of Recommendation: From a teacher or instructor if currently enrolled, or from a current employer. Alternatively, from an appropriate individual if not currently employed or enrolled.

Short Response Section: (Responses should be concise; bullet points acceptable)

  • What are your long-term professional goals?
  • How do you plan to contribute to the mission of NHNPA?
  • What are your past contributions to the nursing profession?
  • Have you previously been awarded the Claire Martin Scholarship?

Evaluation Criteria: Applications will be evaluated based on quality, completeness, clarity of short-term and long-term goals, future plans, and demonstrated past contributions to the nursing field.
