Claire Martin Memorial Scholarship
NHNPA is pleased to offer scholarships in honor of Claire Martin. Claire Martin, APRN was a pioneer in the development of an independent nurse practitioner practice in New Hampshire. Claire was successful in promoting her “Health Care with a Gentle Touch” for patients she cared for in the Lakes Region. She was a valuable member of the NHNPA and a valuable colleague. Claire promoted the nurse practitioner role in New Hampshire. After Claire’s unexpected passing at age 53, in 2001, NHNPA voted to create the Claire Martin Memorial Fund and offer scholarships in her honor and memory. The funds are used to provide financial support to individuals accepted into or currently enrolled in a graduate program of advanced practice nursing education.
Requirements of Applicants: - Be a resident of New Hampshire. - Be a member (any category) of NHNPA. - Cannot be a recipient of this scholarship more than twice.

Applicants will need to complete the application online. You will need to complete the full application at the same time and you will not be able to make changes after it is submitted. To help you prepare we have listed the application elements below.
Question responses should be short - bulleted lists are acceptable. When scoring the applications the following will be considered: quality and completeness of the application, short-term goals, long-term goals, future plans, and past contributions.

- The mailing address of the advanced practice nursing education program
- A letter of acceptance to the accredited program of advanced practice nursing education or a copy of your most recent grades from the advanced practice program of nursing education in which you are currently enrolled
- Current resume or CV.
- A letter of recommendation from a teacher or instructor, if presently in school, or from your current employer. If you are neither in school nor presently employed, a letter of recommendation from some other appropriate individual will be considered acceptable.

What are your long-term professional goals? How do you plan to contribute to the mission of NHNPA? What are your past contributions to the nursing profession? Have you been awarded the Claire Martin Scholarship before?
